| Other ColorSeal suppliers offer a handful of standard common grout colors, and if you can't sell them, tell you to go out and find 3rd party grout color charts and they will try to match them. We've never seen a grout color chart made with actual grout - they are either plastic strips or ink on paper. There are batch to batch color differences in everything including ColorSeal, grout and even color charts. So if you order a batch of ColorSeal based on a batch of color charts based on a batch of grout... well, you may end up with something pretty close to what you expect.
Nothing beats an actual sample of the real product on the customer's floor. Room lighting, grout texture and the colors in the tile will all affect how the final color will look once installed. And nothing closes a sale better than a demo using the exact color the customer wants. If you have ever tried tinting colors yourself you know it is indeed an art form. Not one that most people can master very quickly, if at all. So selling ColorSeal tint bases and colorants was not seen as a good option for most of our customers. We wanted a system that was predictable, reproducible and above all, simple. We fed every grout color chart we could find into special color analysis software, threw out the novelty colors (who really uses lipstick colored grout?) and weighted the colors based on popularity. It turned out that most common grout colors contained about 3 to 6 different pigments. Since we weren't about to ask our customers to mix 6 different colors in the field, much more analysis and work was required to refine the system. The result is the Core Color System. |

The window on the right gives you an idea of the 89 Standard Colors on the Color Selection Guide. A web browser is an awful way to view color charts but at least you can see the range and hues that are included. Scroll through the window to see all the colors. |

There are no tint bases or colorants in the system, simply 8 Core Colors. Each color is a finished, complete ColorSeal product, ready to use. Every color on the ColorClad Color Selection Guide is a combination of only 2 of the Core Colors. All blends are one of the following 3 ratios;
Since you are blending finished product with finished product, there is no danger of over-tinting and hurting the final properties. Unlike tinting with straight pigments, there is plenty of latitude in the mix ratios, you can be off on your measurements by quite a bit before you even notice the difference. A perfectly uniform blend is accomplished with a cordless drill and a mixing paddle in under a minute, right in the applicator bottle. |

SPLASHTONES
At first glance these may sound like a touchy mix, but it is quite simple. A 97:3 ratio is 1/2 oz. (one tablespoon) in a pint of ColorSeal. We include a measuring device in the kits, but once you have done it a few times it is easy to just "eyeball". You are not using concentrated pigments, a few drops either way makes no difference. |

OPTIONAL
You can choose to mix by weight as well. An inexpensive digital scale can be used for measuring. A 1000g +/- 0.1g scale is perfect for batches from one ounce to one pint. |

The ColorClad Core Color System offers significant advantages
Customers new to ColorSeal are frequently amazed at the difference even before you complete the job. It has a great "Wow Factor" and they often start thinking of other areas they want done. Imagine being able to add extra work to the first job, like a little mauve ColorSealing on a counter top, or a moss green on a powder room floor. That's money you may have walked away from because it wasn't worth ordering a special color and making a return trip. |
